Day 7
Today we woke up at 7:00 for a breakfast of banana cake,
apples, scrambled eggs and mango. Two teams headed off to feedings not far from
the YMC; Many people were challenged because we left early and had to leave
some injured children unhelped. After getting back to the YMC, the two teams
found jobs to do around the campus, sweeping and doing laundry. The other two
teams did construction, successfully pulling out the termite mound and beginning
work on the new nursery. Matt, Mark, Mr Kappert and Mr P made use of their
handiwork and built beds for the young kids at the children’s home; Mr Kappert
designed the bunk beds while the boys and Mr P worked like apprentices for him. After
lunch the two teams headed off to the Children’s home doing construction and
playing with the kids. One team then left for another feeding. During the
afternoon construction Rachel and Cassia painted the walls of the new nursery’s
monkey bars. While Miss Smoker enjoyed doing mathematical measurements so as to
construct two hopscotch courts. Meanwhile Tyler and Jayden busted a drainage
pipe by hitting it with a pickaxe. Due to their inability to work with heavy
tools they were then reassigned to painting a four square for the new nursery. Later
in the afternoon a basketball game was played between the Kennedy boys and the
Rehoboth team only consisting of two Rehoboth students, Mark and Isaac.
Rehoboth won, obviously, and a game was then organised for later that night.
Those who were not playing hung out with the kids from the children’s home and
from the JAZ home. After a delicious dinner two teams went to the Children’s
home for devotions, where Jos did a devotion on the power of the tongue. Two
teams also went to Journey for Hope to do devotions, which took ages to drive
to and from because of the traffic from the festival. Overall it was a great day,
but quite a few of the team are feeling tired or sick, so prayers would be
appreciated!

Very happy to hear that you are playing basketball, Isaac and of course, rejoice to know that Rehoboth won! Keep up your spirit, Rehoboth Mission Team! Rest well and know that prayers are shooting up continuously for each of you! Still missing you but trust that you are having a fruitful time there. See you soon, Isaac. :p mum
ReplyDeleteDear Rehoboth Team Sorry to hear some of you are sick but considering where you are is was bound to happen. Praying that God will restore health to those that need it and to refresh your bodies. At least you have a lovely day/break planned for tomorrow. Big hugs and love to Arianna and Dana. The MC taxi is fueled up and ready to go. Luf U Mum
ReplyDeleteHey Kir and Jayd! I've been loving reading up on how you guys are all going. Sounds like you're all really busy and loving it! It's been a bit weird without you at home. Just wanted to give you a heads up about the changes that have happened at home...
ReplyDeleteJayden: Dad decided that as you have changed your last name and haven't been home for a while now, you mustn't need the caravan any more. So it's been sold. Also he added your guitar and amp in as a bonus to the guy who bought it (he was pretty keen).
Kirsten: Lexi is missing you, and is still getting fed every now and then. Kaity has decided to move out of your room and into mine as I'm more exciting, so you get to share your room with Oma now :)
Hope you guys keep working hard and enjoy the culture, food and getting to know and serve all the people you meet (while learning a tonne in the process) ;)
